Re-tuning your Social Media Channels to refine and smooth our the wrinkles of the process… the end game, frictionless sharing
Knowing that people would be searching for reviews of the new Kinect Star Wars game, I took the opportunity to ask someone to shoot a short video of me and then used it to drive eyeballs on the eve of the games’s UK launch… frictionless
When I launched Social Media Directors back on 21st November 2009, it was the result of needing a UK / International brand. I had created great awareness in Berkshire for our Business in Berkshire brand, started in 2002 as an email newsletter, it became a community site in 2004 and was an uphill struggle to gain understanding around its SEO power… people just didn’t get the value of SEO back then.
It would appear, looking at the date for the domain registration, my I love Windsor was launched around the same time as SMD on 23rd November 2009. It’s been in the melting pot since, not having any real direction until NOW!
I Love Windsor is a statement and in my perfect world, wandering around Windsor sharing what’s happening while generating an income to cover the bills would be JUST FANTASTIC… question was, how was income going to be generated?
We’ve found a solution… the ability for I Love Windsor fans to purchase a t-shirt or other items via a third party shopping cart which allows hundreds of items to be selected and the chosen design(s) added… go give it a go…

Social Media is about conversations both online and offline… so these can be managed more smoothly locally… I Love Windsor allows for that to happen, while at the same time being about a fun topic… this should, once we get our news rhythm together, ensure plentiful sharing via our social media channels. Twitter, YouTube, I Love Windsor website, Windsor Daily Blog, Facebook.
Business in Berkshire was, and still is, a great SEO platform for launching micro websites… recent engagements has shown it is also now a great place for getting your images indexed.
If people are looking for answers they are increasingly likely to take a look at Google Images when looking for answers to their questions… just used it to index a picture of me entitled “Award Winning Social Media Speaker”

Business In Berkshire started as an email newsletter, became a community website but had no chat… so we drove over to LinkedIn and created a BinB LinkedIn Group which now has nearly 1400 members… people find it so much easier to engage on a common platform, so don’t fight it. In 2012 the primary focus of Business in Berkshire offline networking is being driven around our Business in Berkshire EXPO which will be at Blue Mountain Golf Club on 21st June 2012… organic evolution.
Social Media Directors is becoming synonymous with training and consultancy… I’m thinking the logical next step is for us to promote social media jobs via the website and make it the natural resources for those looking for new recruits or hoping to find new project opportunities.
Company Pages is my newest product which takes all the learning over the years. Crucially it acknowledges that the search engines require content and that people are generally crap at producing it, after being told at school they were average at English!
Utilising listening systems and triggering automatic engagement when certain words are used ensures timely social media interactions, heading for “frictionless sharing”.
Mixing up social media engagement techniques to ultimately drive traffic to your home page and YOUR BIG MESSAGE… resulting in enquiries, orders or direct sales.
Using our own solutions to promote our own causes ensures great examples of how we have re-tuned our social media channels on our way to frictionless sharing.
Please call me on 01753 852904 to discuss how I can be of service to you.
