Career Development and Social Media for Minority Lawyers
The first seminar in the series will look at the use of social media in relation to building your career, and will be chaired by Gelaga King, Chair of the MLC Planning Group.
Nick Lavender QC, Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council, will open the seminar with a few words, followed by the key presenentation, given by Toby Craig, Head of Communications at the Bar Council, entitled: “Using social media to develop your career”. This will be followed by a panel discussion consisting of Felicity Gerry, a frequent media commentator and social media enthusiast who practices at 36 Bedford Row, Kevin Poulter, a solicitor and social media specialist, and Barbara Hamilton-Bruce from CILEx, an avid tweeter and blogger. The panel discussion will be open to the floor for questions, and will be followed by a networking session.

The Online Influence conference was an idea born on Twitter, with one aim in mind. To provide Wales with access to the brightest social media thought leaders and to make it as accessible as possible to as many SMEs as possible.

It started last year with a conversation between Tony Dowling and Mark Schaefer about how cool an event just like that would be, and snowballed a year later to where we are today with an almost uncontrollable momentum.
I’m really inspired by the energy and drive behind this conference. It’s shaping up to be a powerful day of practical learning from some of the best minds in the US, and beyond!

This years Oiconf has grown from those humble beginnings into a hugely ambitious conference. The theme is still the same however. Bringing world class social media thinkers to these shores, as cheaply as possible.

Orpington Tweet Up
Orpington Tweet Up – FREE Social Media event

The first ever Orpington Tweet Up on Tuesday 5th February 2013 was a gathering of people local to Orpington who are interested in the use of social media to better bring our community together and to help local businesses and local charities to be better known and used.
It took place from 7pm in the upstairs of the Gesti restaurant (now sadly closed down) in Orpington. The owner, Guiseppe, who took part in the meeting, kindly provided the room and free coffee, tea and biscuits.
